Axkva Min! An EiF Spin!

Once again, an Empire in Flames takes content from Star Wars Galaxies and puts its own unique spin on it. Below is the write up of Axkva Min, a heroic instance EiF Style by one of our players, Jeil Tain.

Axkva Min has recently been patched in with full loot tables and now it’s time to begin your journey into the instance and defeat the Nightsister threat.

You will need to complete a one-time quest to enter the dungeon. Speak to your respective factional quest giver to obtain the unlock.

Neutral Players will need to speak with Dr. Chelli Lona Aphra in Mos Eisley.

She can be found inside a guildhall at /way 3480 -4684
Her specific waypoint is /way 3475 -4665

Imperial Players will need to speak with a Cloaked Figure on the Imperial Star Destroyer on Kuat.

Access to the ISD can be found at /way 4493 5449
His specific waypoint is /way 3814 4922

New Republic players will need to speak with Luke Skywalker in the Senate Building on Hanna City, Chandrila.

Senate Building can be found at /way 500 -2935
His specific waypoint is /way 520 -2915

The quest giver instructs you to travel to Dathomir. With a group in hand [5], make your way down the Nightsister Stronghold POI Cave. At the bottom you find the Prison door. Make your way inside when all parties are ready, as you will only have 40 minutes once inside. Additionally if the entire party wipes, the instance is over. At the time of writing this guide store your pets prior to entering the instance. Only 1 person needs to access the door.

The Chamber Door can be found at /way -3915 80

Key Tips

  • Bring Disease & Bleed Resist Foods/Buffs and Cures if possible.

Nandina & Gorvo

The first challenge is a pair of bosses. They can be killed in either order, but combat with one engages the other.

  • Split Gorvo from Nadina, roughly 30-35m. This will require two “Tanks.” They have large AoE attacks and stacking them together will lead to a total party kill.
  • Gorvo uses an AoE Knockdown effect as well as Area Disease.
  • Nandina uses a series of force and fencer attacks, most notable is Area Bleeds.
  • Whichever your party chooses to kill first, make sure all damage dealers focus on the same target. Long engagements can reduce survivability in the later stages of the instance due to encroaching battle fatigue.

Lelli Hi

The second challenge within the Prison, Lelli Hi, will require the party to be mobile and attentive to their surroundings.

  • At intervals throughout the fight, Lelli will spawn “Mushrooms” underneath all players in the party.
    • These Mushrooms have a short fuse and will explode causing massive damage.
    • We recommend keeping your character in movement throughout the entire fight, so as to avoid animation lock when performing abilities which would prevent you from running away from the Mushroom.
    • Lelli Hi is known to use the Swordsman suite of abilities and liked to Intimidate her foes.

Kimaru

The third challenge, Kimaru, can pose a challenge much like Lelli, if you fail to move out of dangerous effects.

  • Throughout the engagement, Kimaru will unleash portals of fire and small storms of electricity.
    • You need to avoid standing in these effects for any more than a split moment, as prolonged exposure leads to death. While timing tends to be slightly more forgiving than the Mushrooms in the previous fight, the Electrical storms are difficult to see, so you need to keep your eyes open.
  • Kimaru is known to use the Swordsman suite of abilities, but also has the ability to Bleed her targets.

Suin Chalo

The final challenge prior to fighting Axkva herself; Suin calls upon her trusted warriors to strike hard and true.

  • Suin will randomly call forth one of four possible warriors to assist her during the battle.
    • These Nightsisters need to be dealt with very quickly, as their damage output is beyond the sustainability of a Doctor’s ability to heal.
    • Hur’dem is vulnerable to Acid.
    • Doum is vulnerable to Heat.
    • Oxvul is vulnerable to Electricity.
    • Ekomal is vulnerable to Cold.
  • Suin is known to use the Swordsman suite of abilities and will use an area Intimidate attack on occasion.

Axkva Min

The namesake of this heroic instance, Axkva Min, is the reason the Prison exists and is the final encounter. She briefly speaks of a dark master and offers you a position at her side…

  • Axkva primary mechanic is to imprison group members and drain them of their life.
    • At random, party members will be encased in a red Crystal which needs to be destroyed. If left alone, the Crystal will continue to damage its target until they are dead.
    • Occasionally some players will feel a ploom of damage as green force effects spew forth. There is nothing to be done to avoid this, we only recommend players stay topped off on health as much as possible.
    • Axkva has been witnessed to use Swordsman suite abilities and will constantly Intimidate or Stun her target.

I hope this little guide helps you and your friends succeed. I would also like to note that this guide was written with the expectation that overall you understand this is endgame content and should have defensive foods, buffs, and various proper equipment.

-Jeil

Friday Feature – Galactic Career Day 5/31/2019

This week’s Friday Feature is courtesy of player Jacobus with contributions by Kelta. Thank you for the excellent breakdown of EiF’s profession choices!

For those of you familiar with the rise and fall of Star Wars Galaxies during live, you’ll remember several professions to choose from during the Pre-CU and CU eras.  NGE shrunk that number to nine linear professions. There was good and bad to be found in both systems and the developers of Empire in Flames have combined all of the good into one brand-new system!

The developers here put it best:
“Think of the professions as what you do and the skill trees as how you do it.”

With Empire in Flames you build your template by investing skill points into branches across several skill trees ranging from rifleman to pistoleer, artisan to armorsmith, or musician to image designer.  All of that, I’m sure, sounds familiar. However now there are eight trees which have been set aside as “professions.” These professions allow you to play with builds you enjoy while also finding a unique niche in the galaxy!

Professions

Bounty Hunter

Bounty Hunters have a whole slew of special abilities which can be used with any weapon from sword to pistol, rifle to pike, in order to apply states, bleeds, fire, or just unadulterated levels of damage.  Bounty Hunters also make use of the Bounty Hunter Mission Terminals to get access to NPC bounties which have some rather profitable payouts in addition to a chance to drop some decent loot.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Droid Track: The ability to use droids to track NPC bounties across the galaxy.
  • Rich Movepool: Bounty Hunters have access to more specials (and therefore more states and debuffs) than any other profession making them a powerhouse when it comes to DPS.

Commando

The commando has access to heavy weapons and blast damage allowing them to deal serious damage against turrets and walkers in GCW events, as well as anything else with those specific vulnerabilities. As Masters of heavy weapons, they can use:

  • plasma flame throwers and their specials to inflict action burns
  • acid launchers to do the same to the mind pool
  • launcher pistol with blast damage and access to all of the pistol specials one may learn as a pistoleer.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Rocket Launchers & Grenades: With these weapons, commandos can do massive amounts of damage in one volley.

Doctor

Doctors are some of the best healers in the galaxy.  What gives the Doctor their edge is in their abilities to heal states, heal from a distance, and heal over an area. Those skills make them a much better healer for groups or large-scale engagements than the pocket/single-target healer that is the typical medic.  Additionally, they are able to buff players beyond their normal levels to bolster the numbers found floating in their health and action pools for an added edge in combat. Also, a doctor with a good understanding of crafting can produce some very good medicines for themselves or those in the market.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Area Heal: In large engagements where many players are taking damage, this is a welcome reprieve.
  • Ranged Heals: Able to heal from a range, a doctor is able to keep themselves further from danger and therefore healing longer.
  • Heal States:  Be it something like blind, dizzy, or stun or something more pressing like bleeds and fire, the doctor is able to cure the state and remove the disadvantage.
  • Buffs: Though not necessary like they once were given the redistribution of HAM stats in Empire in Flames, buffs are still a necessary bonus when every point matters.

Entertainer

Entertainer is a great complement for the other professions that were a part of its line on live. They are able to earn a new fame stat which increases the payout for entertainer missions and they get access to more flourishes and instruments than one otherwise would as just a dancer or musician.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Fame: Money tight?  Well for anyone famous enough, the NPCs on the mission terminals will be more than happy to pay larger sums for someone worth the notoriety.

Merchant

Merchants are able to run a business like no other. They set up vendors and have some interesting ways to cut costs when it comes to things like overhead, maximizing their profits or the profits of those utilizing their unique service.  As a Merchant, crafters can make some serious money by getting their product out there rather than just waiting for referrals or requests. With the server’s reliance on merchants over the bazaar terminal, their services are invaluable!

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Lower Maintenance Costs: This helps cut down overhead on your place of business for better profit margins.
  • Hire & Dress Vendors: This will allow for branding as well as organization of your goods for your shoppers.

Ranger

Rangers are the explorers and frontiersmen of the galaxy, having better terrain negotiation and burst run duration than any of the other professions, an ability to track players, NPCs, and animals, as well as added defenses against wild creatures they may encounter.   Additionally, they can craft and throw traps in order to apply all sorts of debuffs and snares to both creatures and players. All of that coupled with a unique ability to harvest organic resources from felled animals makes them unrivaled hunters. Lastly, when all is said and done, rangers can also craft and set camps in the wild in order to provide the benefits otherwise found back in cities.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Harvest: Rangers are the only profession able to harvest animal resources for crafters, giving them a rare niche in the galactic economy.
  • Traps: Throw these can help prevent animals or players from escaping and can complement your build with debuffs you may not otherwise have access to.

Smuggler

Right now this profession is waiting for the Underworld Release which will come after the Jedi Release on the current development road map.  However that does not make them useless by any means, as they have access to some specials that are unique and damaging and (just as is the case with bounty hunter) weapon agnostic.  Smugglers also have the ability to purchase faction points, effectively buying their way into the good graces of either the New Republic or the Empire. Skilled slicers, Smugglers can also assist crafters by slicing weapons and armor for better results and they are able to slice mission terminals for bigger paydays.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Slicing: Be it a terminal for a larger payout or improving weapons and armor, this is how a smuggler will make their money.

Squad Leader

As the name implies, this is a profession designed to lead groups into battles and other content. Squad Leaders possess abilities which can increase the damage output of their group, increase the group’s speed and mobility, help with wounds, utilize system messages for better communication, etc. They are a valuable asset in the increasingly tough instanced dungeons being released and an absolute necessity in the large-scale PvP offered by the Galactic Civil War events.

Unique Skills & Abilities

  • Retreat: This temporarily allows for better movement speed and terrain negotiation for everyone in the group.
  • Volley Fire: Makes the attacks of those in the group more effective as a whole.

Friday Feature: 9/1/2017: Heavy Weapons Y’all!

The Empire in Flames Heavy Weapons Revamp has arrived! Commandos everywhere are rejoicing, or should be! New Entertainers should rejoice too, lots of healing XP should be available soon, from all the damage! The weapons were created unique to EiF by our lead developer and project owner, Halyn. All of the weapons require newly designed munitions components,as well.

In addition, in keeping with EiF’s mission to value crafters and interdependency, the munitions components will require items from an Artisan.

The revamp brings in four categories of weapons:

  • Heavy Weapons (40 Uses)
    • Acid Stream Launcher (this one’s gonna hurt!)
    • Heavy Particle Beam Cannon (starts singing, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s mah Particle Beam…)
    • Lightning Beam Cannon (Get out your Solar Eclipse glasses for this one folks! It’s Shiny!)
    • Rocket Launcher

Acid Stream Launcher, Heavy Particle Beam Cannon, Lightning Beam Cannon, Rocket Launcher

  • Special Heavy Weapons (Usable until it decays)
    • Heavy Acid Rifle (This one’s really, really gonna hurt!)

Heavy Acid Rifle

    • Light Lightning Rifle (Not as “heavy” as it’s brother…)

Light Lightning Cannon

    • Plasma Flame Thrower (‘cause who doesn’t want to shoot flames at a bad guy!)

Plasma Flame Thrower

  • Mines (5 Uses)
    • Anti-Vehicular Mine (Now we can seek retribution on the NPCs for all the vehicles they’ve destroyed of ours!)
    • DRX Mine (DRX? Dirty Rusty eX?)
    • XG Mine (XG – okay, I’m stumped)
  • Throwable Weapons (5 Uses)
    • C12 Fragmentation Grenade (Blow those suckers to tiny bits!)
    • C22 Fragmentation Grenade (Blow them to even tinier bits!)
    • CryoBan Grenade (brrr, now that’s just cold)
    • Glop Grenade (My personal favorite. Who wouldn’t want to toss a glop grenade at someone.)
    • Imperial Detonator (NR’s take your personal Imp pet out for a “spin” ahahahhaha!)
    • Proton Grenade (‘Cause who doesn’t want a mini proton topedo!?)
    • Thermal Detonator (BANG!)

All of the sub components are found in the Munition Component section of the Weapons crafting tab.

So, there ya have it! All the ‘splodie, acidy, streamy, screamy goodness any commando could desire. Go git em! Take down those arrogant Imps or dirty, rebel… erm New Republic scum.

Clearly Not Combat Princess!

Patch Notes: Client Patch 8/30/2017

The much anticipated CLIENT PATCH arrives tomorrow! Patch notes follow down below. The brand spanking new EiF Launcher will be available to load up the patch, as well! Instructions will be available. I’m sure you will all be grateful  I didn’t add my *squees* and *happy dances* throughout these notes, you’ll just have to guess at which ones are my favorites!

  • 4 new player races:
    • Devaronian Females
    • IG-100
    • Mirialans
    • Zeltron
  • New creature mounts have been introduced! Note that not all variants of a creature can necessarily be mounted – only the largest, toughest versions of some of these animals can carry a rider.
    • Narglatches
    • Gurrecks
    • Greater Sludge Panthers
    • Tusk Cats
    • Gualamas
    • Bordoks
    • Blurrgs
  • Entertainer Missions have been reworked using the new Fame system, which replaces the old Image Designer line in the Entertainer Profession. Entertainers with more fame can command higher payouts, particularly for gigs that require travel.
    • Fame-enhancing clothing and attachments will be coming at a future time.
    • Fame is not retroactive for already-established entertainers. The SWGEmu code that should force an update does not work, and we are investigating and will patch as soon as we have a solution.
    • Only a single entertainer mission can be taken at a time.
  • Munitions crafting has been re-added to the game. See the next Friday Feature to learn more about the Heavy Weapons revamp.
    • Weaponsmiths now have a number of new cores and components to craft to create heavy weapons.
    • Grenades, mines, and rocket launchers use explosive cores.
    • Flamethrowers and acid rifles use tanks.
    • Heavy beam weapons use capacitors.
    • Light lightning cannons use static cores.
  • Armor slicing has been re-added to the game.
  • Races that previously lacked customization now have basic morphs and palettes available, including:
    • Abyssin
    • Cerean
    • Duros
    • Gungan
    • Iktotchi
    • Kel Dor
    • Kubaz
    • Togruta
  • The first stage of the GCW has been implemented. All planets participating in the GCW now have factional troops present. (See this Friday Feature!) Planetary control scripting is still in process and has not yet been enabled, but is coming soon.
  • Port Jato, an underworld-themed player hub, can now be visited via friendly smugglers who take cash in advance. These smugglers generally don’t like being found anywhere near law enforcement, but can likely be found at the watering hole of criminal-infested hives of scum and villainy.
  • Devaronians and Kel Dor no longer appear headless when wearing hats or hoods.
  • Paintings now have backs.
  • Cats can now swim.
  • Ubese armor jackets now correctly offer chest protection.
  • Two-strap bandoleers now use the correct color palette.
  • Up to six missions can be taken from a standard mission terminal.
  • BER rates on harvesters have been changed from pre-CU BER calculations to NGE BER calculations.
